Our story starts in 2017

When our founder Megan MacKenzie landed in Australia, she wanted to make friends and connect with her new community through volunteering. Sounds easy, right? Not so much. And so the DuGood journey began.

Megan connected with charities to understand the challenges and responsibilities they have in recruiting and managing volunteers. She gained a deep understanding of charities' needs for dependable and committed volunteers who are great to work with. She also spoke with young Australians who were eager to embrace volunteer opportunities that mesh with their flexible and fluid lifestyles. She started DuGood to bridge that gap.

The DuGood Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to mobilising new generations of volunteers across Australia. DuGood’s fresh approach makes the app a compelling tool for charities to engage, recruit and raise brand awareness among new audiences. The app helps users engage the causes they care about by making the experience easy, social and fun.

HERE’S WHAT WE WANT TO ACCOMPLISH

Increase the number, volume, value and impact of new generations of volunteers for organisations working to address poverty, sickness, inequality and distress

Increase the impact of volunteering on the causes and of suffering

Support volunteering as a pathway to recovery, greater community engagement, education and employment for vulnerable people

Raise awareness of the circumstances of people in need

Embed volunteering as a choice for investing time for new generations of volunteers

Contribute to research through partnerships with leading universities, partner charities, volunteers and vulnerable people. Use innovation and research to increase our impact in addressing poverty, sickness, inequality and distress.

Advocate for increased support for volunteering across business, government and community.

Reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation and improve resilience and connection among volunteers.

Increase visibility of and engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals as targets and measures for making the world safer, farer and more sustainable for vulnerable people.
